Urban vs Rural 2015

Urban vs Rural is the practical part of my 2015 Bachelor’s thesis, exploring the contrast between urban and natural environments through two murals created for Eerika Kindergarten.

“City” was inspired by the highway painted on the hallway floor by the children. I developed the cityscape using Estonian road signs and urban motifs, creating a playful environment that connected with the children’s own artwork.

“Rural” transforms the nature room into a panoramic landscape. Trees representing different ecosystems highlight biodiversity and the diversity of nature, while collaged birds were inspired by the names of the kindergarten’s groups. The birds were based on Estonian species, including several rare ones.
